How can I let everyone know what a rip off something was?

Posted by valmg under Business

Have you ever had a company rip you off? Have you ever been victim to a scam? Didn’t you want to let everyone else know so that it wouldn’t happen to them as well? It’s happened to me, and boy was I mad. On I know EVERYTHING - just ask my hubby I blogged the history of my coffee rip off. I had blogged about it to let others know, and in the end I think it did have a part in the problem being resolved. Today I came across a site called The Ripoff Report. It would have been the perfect place to post my complaint publicly.

Visit Ripoff Report to see a great site for anyone that’s suffered a scam or been ripped off by a company. The site let’s you inform others of your experience, with the goal of public awareness so others don’t have the same experience and possibly help get your problem resolved. Visitors are able to file a report, update a report, research companies and access to loads of helpful resources including helpful tips. Companies may choose to join their Corporate Advocacy Program to assist with advocacy, remediation and customer satisfaction. Go check out the site, there’s a lot of interesting and helpful info there. And it’s all put there for the consumers by the consumers.

I’ve read a few things that indicate that the Ripoff Report is itself a ripoff. From what I understand they accept money to remove reports or to close a report. I’ve also heard that the admins actually write a lot of ripoff reports themselves to get people to pay to close it.

Don’t know if that’s true or if it’s something that some who’s been reported is trying to spread. Either way, take it with a grain of salt. ;)

2xknight - I found one or two things to that effect right after I clicked publish. I don’t know about what they’re saying. I know the idea of one place for people to post their experiences is a good one. I don’t know about the business side.

Oh I agree that it would be useful. That usefulness is ruined if the site itself is posting false grievances to extort money to remove them though.

I agree with you 2xknight. I probably should have researched more before writing about it.
